7. Safescreen

SAFESCREEN®

SAFESCREEN®, the climbing screen system from Harsco Infrastructure is designed to safeguard site personnel against adverse weather conditions and falls from height when constructing high-rise concrete frames.

With the commercial and residential markets moving increasingly towards high rise solutions and a greater focus on safe working at height. Harsco Infrastructure have introduced this purpose designed system to incorporate lightweight, high-strength steel sections, making it the lightest system on the market.

A 4.5 m x 9 m SAFESCREEN® unit weighs only 1.5 tonnes, requiring lower capacity hydraulics than competitor systems. The cladding panels are also light-weight and can be of profiled sheeting (translucent, solid or perforated), mesh or plywood. The panels additionally offer developers one of the largest outdoor media opportunities available by using the outside surface for advertising.

Unique advantages

To accommodate formwork and edge protection which extends beyond the slab edge, the upper section of SAFESCREEN® steps outward by about a metre with the main structural support located within the lower section – clear of the slab falsework.

Uniquely, SAFESCREEN® can be installed from level two. Competitive systems can not be introduced until level four – requiring alternative edge protection methods for levels two and three. By designing the system to be installed at an earlier stage on the project, it becomes economic for projects over ten storeys.

Efficiencies

Efficiencies can also be achieved in both transport costs and use of valuable site space. The SAFESCREEN® design allows the pre-assembled panels to be folded flat to save space whilst add-on wings result in pre-assembled transportable units requiring minimal fabrication on site. As a result SAFESCREEN® does not require special wide load transport and requires less space for storage and assembly on site.
